This new Constitution has been approved by our Board of Trustees. Enclosed for
your review is the proposed updated Constitution, and a copy of the existing
Constitution for comparison purposes. We are sending these to you for your
review.

The  updated, constitution will be voted on at the April Congregation Meeting on June 4th, which begins at 7:00 p.m.; and we hope that you will support the updated constitution then.    

You must be at the Congregation Meeting in person or on Zoom to vote.

It is with sadness we share that Frances Kisaday Viola, passed away.  She was the mother of Jeff Viola and mother-in-law of Bonnie Kass-Viola. 

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 25 from 4-8pm at the Ketusky Funeral Home, 1310 Brooks Blvd in Manville, NJ. The funeral will be on Friday, May 26 at 9am at the Ketusky Funeral Home.

Livestream Information

There seems to be some confusion about how to watch the livestream of the Kol B'Seder Concert on Saturday.  As indicated on the registration form for the concert, there is a separate link to access the livestream, which will cost $20 per location (access to the livestream cannot be shared).  You will have to register for an account on the Castr site and then you will be able to view the concert after you pay for the livestream "ticket".   https://bit.ly/May20Livestream

It is with sadness we share that Denis Lustig passed away.  He was the husband of the late Sandra Lustig. Denis was the father of Alan Lustig, Meryl Markowitz and Gena Jarmel and father-in-law of Alison Lustig, Dr Charles Markowitz and Matthew Jarmel .Denis was the brother of Sandy Levine and Rene Ruditz and the grandfather of Larissa, Femi, David, Benjamin, Hannah, Jessamine, Geoff, Carly, Evan, Sara, Bryan and Tehila.  He was the great-grandfather of Ezra and Calla. 

The funeral will be Wednesday, May 10th at 11:00am, Bloomfield Cooper Funeral Home in Manalapan. Interment will be at Beth Israel Cemetery.

May 8 - Men's Club Meeting
-Our monthly meeting will be at Wegman's upstairs dining area at 7:30pm

May 20 - TSE Men's Club will have raffle tickets available at the Kol B'Seder concert
-Come grab tickets to win having your TSE dues paid for an entire year. Drawing will be held on June 16th so all tickets must be purchased no later than June 15th

May 21 - Men's Club Breakfast (free)
-We're doing it again. This time in the spring. It's the last day of religious school too so if you haven't already checked us out - please swing by for coffee and a bagel w/lox and schmooze with some of the guys you know and meet some you don't.

-Come out and watch the Jersey Shore Blue Claws host the Brooklyn Cyclones in Lakewood with the Men's Club. The game starts at 7pm and depending upon the numbers we may throw an impromptu tailgate. More info and sign up here:

-We may need more players for this game so please reach out and let us know if you're interested

June 12 - Men's Club Meeting
-Our monthly meeting will be at Wegman's upstairs dining area at 7:30pm

June 16 - Men's Club Service
-Come help the Men's Club deliver a Friday Night service. Take on a Hebrew or an English-speaking part. No experience necessary! We will likely have a few practices leading up to the weeks before this occurs. If you'd like to participate please reach out to Allen Rothman (rthmn49@optonline.net) or Neal Finkelstein ( neal.finkelstein@gmail.com ).

It is with sadness we share that Jerry Schultz passed away. Jerry was the father of Hope Madden, Lori Glick and Amy Schultz and father-in-law to Ron Glick. He was the grandfather of Robert, Timmy and Stacie,Ted and Kate and the great-grandfather of Logan, Myla, Harmony and Dillon.

The funeral will be Sunday, May 7th @ Bloomfield Cooper in Manalapan at 1:00pm with interment following at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ. 

Shiva will be on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday with minyan each night at 7pm at the home of Lori Glick, 507 Bittersweet Drive in Morganville. 

Donations in Jerry's memory can be made to Rabbi Melinda Panken's Discretionary Fund

It is with sadness we share that Joel Brandt, brother of Karen Bohm passed away. The funeral will be tomorow, Tuesday, May 2 @ Bloomfield Cooper in Manalapan at 11am with interment following at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ. 

There will be a luncheon/shiva from 2:30-8:00pm on Tuesday and shiva on Wednesday, from 1-4pm and 6-9pm at the home of Joy and Darren Brandt, 
​​​​​​​2 Beech Tree Lane, Shrewsbury. 

Donations in Joel's memory can be made to Crohn's & Colitis Foundation or to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation.

Learning this Week

The "Great Man Theory" of the 19th century champions an approach to the study of history in which the unfolding of events through time can be explained by individuals of a "great" nature, often by virtue of their character, abilities, or influence manifesting in historical effect. Through the lens of Jewish history, the thrust of our people might also be explained by our prodigious leaders of the past. The famous expression, "from Moses (Rabbeinu) to Moses (Maimonides), there is no one like Moses (Mendelssohn)"  encapsulates this very notion, albeit limited to a name. Join Rabbi Falco on this journey through Jewish history powered by the greatest leaders of our people, from biblical times up to the modern day. Participants will have the opportunity to drive parts of the curriculum by requesting and/or voting on particular leaders on which to focus our study as we move through the ages to today.

It is with great sadness we share that Alberta Levine, sister of Murray Cole and sister-in-law of Barbara Levine, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023.  The funeral service will be in Florida on Tuesday.

Jeff Klepper & Dan Freelander have performed as the group Kol B'Seder since 1972 and are on their 50th anniversary tour. Their melody for Shalom Rav is the most popularly sung in the denominations of Judaism where many prayers are sung rather than chanted.

Whether you join us at the Rock Shabbat Service, honoring Cantor Wally on Friday, May 19th; or attend the Seminar with Jeff Klepper, which will follow Bob Dylan's spiritual journey; come enjoy the concert; or all three events, this is a special opportunity to be inspired by the beautiful spiritual music that will fill Temple Shaari Emeth the weekend of May 19th to 20th.
